The word, Kusudama, derives from the Japanese words:
“kusuri” that means “medicine,” and “tama” that means “ball.”

Kusudamas originated in Ancient Japanese culture and were believed to be made of real flowers, used for incense and potpouri.

There are many models of paper kusudamas which are made
up of multiple pieces of paper. This model in particular is interactive, in that each “pentagonal bud” can open and close.
